Amazon.com E-Business Model 2 Discuss the pros and cons of Amazon’s growth and diversification of business and specialization, and make recommendations about what Amazon could have done differently. Amazon.com, Inc. is a US-based multinational electronic commerce company. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, it is the largest online retailer in the United States, with nearly three times the Internet sales revenue of the runner up, Staples, Inc., as of January 2010. (Wikipedia, 2011). Founded in 1994 and the site went online in 1995. The company was originally named Cadabra, Inc., but the name was changed later on due to a misspelling, The name Amazon.com was chosen because the Amazon River is one of the largest rivers in the world and so the name suggests large size. Like any other e-business Amazon has its own pros and cons, I hope that the pros will exceeds the cons because I’m a big fan and a loyal customer of that Amazon.com. Let’s start with the pros first than we will move on to the cons. Pros: Amazon is a great place to sell your textbooks and other higher-priced items. However, Amazon is not so great for selling small items and cheap books. The advantage of selling using Amazon is that you do not have to pay a listing fee, which eBay charges. Amazon offers a wide variety of items that you can buy, new or even used, most of the item that I’ve been looking for I found them on Amazon, it’s an amazing place to start searching for what you need.

Amazon.com E-Business Model 3 Amazon they rate their sellers and they will let everyone to rate the seller and comment, so it will be useful prior buying any item to look at the rating and read the comments. Amazon offers to buyers the opportunity to directly buy from the sellers who could be the manufacturer or the wholesaler which means lower prices for the buyers. Amazon is using the PayPal service which gives you a peace of mind and safety for paying your money. The Amazon card will let you get points every time you make a purchase and with certain number of points you will be able to use them to buy an airline tickets or other things. Easy to Get Started. Amazon has made it super easy for anyone to get started with making money online. The products are easy to find, and the ads are easy to incorporate into any blog or website. And the best part is that they even provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to do it.(Reimer, 2008) Cons: The disadvantage of Amazon is that they charge more commission fees to use their service. That is why you should use Amazon to sell larger items because you
