Davidson Strayer University Arlington, VA January 23, 2011 1- Discuss the current supply chain system at DIMCO DIMCO DIMCO is a manufacture that gets its own raw materials that are approximately 1350 items from 375 different suppliers around the world. It’s a huge number of suppliers and a lot of items to buy from them, as an average if we divide the number of items per the number of suppliers 1350/375= 3.6 item / supplier. That’s a lot of supplies from a lot of suppliers, so this chain of getting supplies is broad a lot and it may cause problems, between the manufacture and the suppliers, because you need a big number of employee and a lot of automated computers and a high technology in the supply chain management in order to coordinate with this big number of suppliers. on the other part, DIMCO have a traditional supply chain so it stores its final goods in a warehouse than distribute it to 10 regional distributor and each RDC supplies an average of 12 local distributors that each supply the an average of 35 retailers, in a simple calculation we can notice that DIMCO is reaching (35 * 12 * 10 = 4,200) 4,200 retail stores around the world, so...
