Breach of Contract Page 2 of 3 Raymond Weil, a Swiss watchmaker, sued Charlize Theron for breach of contract after she had worn a watch from competitor Christian Dior during a press event. This was done while Mrs. Theron was under contract and being paid by Raymond Weil to exclusively wear their timepieces. Mrs. Theron breached her contract with Raymond Weil by disregarding her contractual agreement and publicly wearing competing brands. The act of Mrs Theron appearing at a press event wearing a Dior watch was a violation of the contract stipulaton of exclusive endorsement of Weil timepieces. Raymond Weil is right in suing Mrs. Heron for breach of contract. It is my opinion that Weil should be able to sue for compensatory, consequential, and possible punitive damages.
