Axia College Material Appendix A Midterm Exam Access the Week Four Electronic Reserve Readings located under the materials section of your student website. Read this week’s Electronic Reserve Readings. Write a paragraph of approximately 100 words for each section listed below. 1. Using the critical thinking skills you have gained so far and referring to the materials provided for this assignment, identify two possible strategies that Thomas Hutchinson or Samuel Adams likely used to develop and improve their thinking as those historical events unfolded prior to taking a stand and acting according to their beliefs. These people were visionaries and thought that their way of believing would better the colonies as a whole. They believed that the king of England’s laws and taxation should not affect them in the 13 colonies. They decided that their law’s and tax’s were not right and they started using newspapers and other forms of writing to start an uprising. Basically he stood for freedom and independence, from our rulers half a world away. They probably used people’s thoughts and fears to drive their need for individualism. 2. Explain the importance of building a foundation for critical and creative thinking when evaluating historical events such as the Boston Tea Party. Because this will help a person to be able to critically and creatively think. People’s thoughts, opinions, and beliefs are all set and usually evolved by others. Humans have a bad tendency to allow others to distort their way of thinking and way of seeing things. People also allow prior experiences effect them in a negative way, instead of learning from that mistake the person would rather never be in that situation again. 3.
