Research methodology" and focus on sections 4 and 5. and Figure 2. Discuss the components of Figure 2 in the light of your case study situation and the process you selected. External Influences: 1. Economic Sector : The Economic Sector doesn’t impact strongly on the Department of Defence. In 2009, contrary to the world economic down going, the expenditure for DoD is approximately 651.2 billion, ½ of federal discretionary spending. 2. Technology Advances: refers to society’s inexhaustible drive toward technological progression and change. The Information Assurance has a very important responsibility to update the most advance technologies with the best solutions in several aspects of technique such as information security, computer hardware, computer network, software engineering to assure the information in a best safety mode. Therefore the policy should be changed automatically upon the technology changes and also reviewed once a month. 3. Industry Standards: The DoD is the pioneer in computer technology, and the Information Assurance of course is the pioneer in forming the industry standards, especially in information security standards. Moreover, the policies and procedures of this process would be updated with other standards to make it more accessible.
