Raising the Minimum Wage There has always been much talk, ideas, and research both positive and negative revolving around minimum wage increases throughout the years. Looking at the circumstances from many angles could give the impression that another increase as soon as possible could end up being a good thing or bad. As the nation’s people strive to make it through their days, there are those that have much harder time doing so than others. A realistic raise in the minimum wage implemented immediately nationwide would improve the wellbeing of poor families, perk up local communities and businesses, and benefit minorities such as women, African-American, and Hispanic workers. In ones of his commentaries, it was said by a Cliff Slater, "Pay workers only what they're really worth” (Caldwell, 2005, ¶ 2). What kind of degrading statement is that to make people feel so low? That is not to say that a worker should put in the effort to get paid, but the pay should truly reflect the work more comprehensively to the rest of the nation. An increase by just a few
