Sameer Satyam 210.07M 04/20/10 Paul Goodman- Short Essay Goodman’s Views on Science and Technology Paul Goodman in his article ‘Can Technology be Humane’ discussed about the use of technology in the modern era and provides solutions to eradicate the problems being faced by technology. Goodman by illustrating the case of a protest upheld by the professors of Massachusetts Institute of Technology against misdirected scientific research, tries to emphasize on how the funding to colleges and universities are being controlled by the corporate world and how the budding scientists are being compelled to conduct research on subjects that would prove to be beneficial for the companies over their own personal interest. Goodman views the use of technology from the lens of prudence, ecology and decentralization mentioning the problems faced in each of the aforementioned categories and then provides his audience with strategies to deal with the current grim situation of technological advancements.
