Sameer Satyam 210.07M 04/07/10 Jensen Responses Plastic In this chapter Jensen tries to portray an alarming and terrifying picture of the world overflowing with plastic. The author is able to convince the readers over the fact that we really are sinking down under the heavy weight of plastic we ourselves have produced. We need to act quick and find effective measures to deal with this frightening issue before its too late. Jensen conveys this message in a much sarcastic tone describing the kind of world we have created around ourselves. He presents the readers with a brutal image of our ecosystem epitomizing the current pathetic state of our water bodies and the aquatic life that once used to thrive in it, but is sadly now just dragging itself along due to excessive human intervention. This chapter by Jensen is also a satire on all those companies and corporations manufacturing hazardous plastic using illegal and unethical means and also by keeping the general population under oblivion.
