Ashley B. Hilliard 258-10-0169 July 5, 2010-October 22, 2010 MG 665 Lesson#4, Assignment 4 COVER MEMO Below you will find a memo to all the executives and buyers of McGregor’s Ltd. Department Store discussing the changes James McGregor has made to the employee discount program. In the memo, I mostly used a one-sided discussion, because of James McGregor’s credibility as the President of the McGregor’s Ltd. Department Stores. I used the inductive approach in order to sustain the interest of the audience throughout the entire memo. I tried to show respect for McGregor’s audience by informing them of the concerns surrounding the store’s reputation and of the benefits of modifying the discount program instead of simply telling them that the program had changed. In this situation, McGregor is communicating with the higher ranking employees of the department store. These senior employees value the company’s old-fashioned traditions. They also stand to lose a greater portion of their employee discount with the adoption of the new discount policy. I believe McGregor’s argument that the company
