Hilliard 258-10-0169 July 5, 2010-October 22, 2010 MG 665 Lesson#8, Assignment 2 As a paper merchant, you’ve no doubt heard peers say “the historical merchant model for selling imaging papers is obsolete. You have to have a new approach to succeed.” The merchant distribution channel has lost between 10 to 15 imaging papers share points over the last few years as a result of the rise in competing models and alternative methods of distribution. The market has shifted and some merchants are actively changing their business model to recognize the shift. The rise of the contract stationer and dealers in the space offer capabilities and introduce new service value propositions that require a different go-to-market approach. At International Paper, working with the merchant community to ensure a strong imaging papers business is core to our mutual health. As such, we have embarked on a comprehensive study
