KNH 232 Sliger 28 November 2009 Stepping Stones Center In the summer and throughout the fall I worked at a place called Stepping Stones Center. It is a camp for children who have a disability or multiple disabilities. The types of disabilities range anywhere from autism, to Down syndrome, or any kind of physical disabilities. This facility provides for any type of disability and never turns anyone away. Stepping Stones also has a preschool and two different adult programs that are year round. The purpose of Stepping Stones Day Camp is to provide a place to allow children with disabilities to interact with kids their own age, younger, and older. They can do activities such as boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, playing sports, and much more. Everything we do at camp is modified just a little bit so everyone can participate no matter what. The best part about this camp is it allows these children to be free from the day to day stresses of their disabilities. For just a little while they don’t have to worry about their parents or siblings. Doctors and therapists are the last thing on their minds while they let loose and experience life from a different world, a carefree one. The kids
