Laura Brady April 12, 2010 CJ 101 Crime Control vs. Due Process Methods For many years, criminologists have been discussing different models of  crime and what type is more efficient than the other. The two main methods  discussed are the crime control and due process methods, both created by Herbert  Packer. While each method has it’s own flaws and positive aspects, it is still very  difficult to tell which method really reigns supreme.  The crime control model is known for it’s opinions about order and how it is  a necessary aspect for a free and just society. Crime control followers believe that  “criminal justice should concentrate more on vindicating victims’ rights rather than  protecting defendants’ rights” ("Associated Content News"). Packer  described the crime control model and stated that if it were to work
