Accordingly, the techniques for evaluating, planning, scheduling and controlling technology projects will be reviewed and extended. In addition other relevant, contemporary management engineering techniques will be introduced. The application of manual and computer-based solutions will be emphasized to further impress upon the student the tools and techniques of modern engineering management. Text: Operations Management, Russell, Roberta S., Bernard W. Taylor III, Prentice-Hall, 5 th Edition, 2006, Upper Saddle River, NJ Course Objectives: MAN3533 has the following objectives 1) This class is a logical extension of MAN3532 . As such its aim is to provide an under- standing of the interfaces between the engineering function and other functions in organizations. In particular, the course will emphasize the vital relationship between engineering and business. This will be done through practical homework assignments. 2) To introduce tools and techniques of modern engineering management. Students will apply these in group homework assignments. 3) To develop students' analytical and problem solving skills through the application of several quantitative and qualitative decision models to group homework assignments. 4) To improve student competencies in computer-based analyses, in particular the power of parametric analysis in computer models in doing practical business analyses. Computer Laboratories: This course will make use of SBI's modern computer laboratories.
