POLI 201 Exam 2 Study Guide, Part A Exam 2 covers chapters 5, 6, and 7. This study guide is incomplete; I will update it with this week’s material after class on Thursday. All of these topics/questions can be answered from the textbook or from class lecture. I do not recommend using the internet to study as you need to know the significance of these topics as related to our specific class material. What does the Constitution say about how Congress is organized? How do political parties and committees structure Congress and what problems do each of these systems solve for members? Know the size, terms of office, and constituencies for both Senators and Representatives. How do these things affect how each chamber operates? How were Senators originally chosen? When and how did this change? What do political scientists consider to be the main goal of members of Congress? Why? At roughly what rates do incumbents get reelected in the House? What are the sources of the incumbency advantage?
