We save you because we need you! Summary Charles Krauthammer, the author of “Saving Nature, But Only for Man” tries to explain what man has done to the environment and how man is now trying to choose dozens conflicts, make laws, create restriction, and build projects so that they can protect the environment. But how to choose? There is a simple way: we need to distinguish between environmental luxury and environmental necessities. Luxuries are those things that we love to have if costless and necessities are those things that we need to have regardless. For example, preserving the atmosphere-stopping ozone depletion and the green house effect- is an environmental necessity. The green house effect is more dangerous and its aftermath is far more dangerous. Ozone depletion and the green house effects are human disasters and are urgent because they directly threaten man. Environmental science regards humankind as the most important element of existence and it urges man to preserve the nature just for its own sake. Some environmentalist are debating over oil drilling in the corner of Alaska National Wildlife
