Effect of African Americans on Consumer Behavior With the need for effective marketing growing increasingly popular, companies have found that successful African American athletes are great tools to use in their marketing efforts. Originally these athletes were only used for marketing things that deal with sports specifically such as equipment, shoes, broadcasted television event, and other sports related topics. Now with the public being highly responsive to African American athletes, it has started the trend of companies venturing out and using these athletes in non-sports related topics. Tiger Woods is the current, most successful African American golfer. He has been used by many different companies to help them promote their product and attract different demographics and target markets. He has advertised for Domino’s Pizza, Gillette, Tag Heuer, he has done advertising for video games, and the current and maybe most impressive is he has improved the market share of Buick. Potential car buyers really brought in to Tiger Woods
