Yasser Naal October 20, 2010 Sociology 2201 Education Paper Education is a very sensitive topic to many U.S citizens today. From birth we are told that everyone is offered an “equal” education, evidently that is not the case. The education system automatically places kids in specific criteria levels and makes everyone believe they are getting an “equal” education. The system now looks at the income of each household and determines to place what child in what type of course. There are usually two course levels in each high school. The college prep courses offer classes which will basically send the child to college, while the vocational prep courses are telling the child they simply are not “college material”. The children with the higher income households are obviously placed in the college prep courses while the low class kids are placed in vocational prep courses. This goes against every equal right we have. It is a clear disadvantage to the kids in the lower class to be automatically placed in
