COM 220 Introduction and Conclusion Immigration Reform Introduction: America is known to the world as a nation of immigrants. Our genealogy can be traced to all documented regions on the planet. We came to America for an escape from a cruel and harsh climate. We traveled miles of seas to have our families know of a life we wanted for them as well as ourselves. We walked from one country to another to seek a prosperity that we saw fit to have. Some of us came without hesitation to seek out the unknown in a land considered unexplored. Some of us resisted, fought and died to escape those who sought to bring us here against our wills. We have melted in a melting pot of America that stems from all over the globe. Consequently, we set laws into motion to govern and protect us from both the outside and within. However these laws have been manipulated, misused and broken in the process of immigration reform. We have seen terror walk right through our front door and destroyed our cities. We calculated our debt to an unimaginable total due to lack of enforcement on our immigration laws. We have been split as a people who know the value of another human being, and those who
