Week Five: Health Care Costs DQ 1 To be eligible for Medicare people will have to be 65 or older. Persons under 65 with have disabilities, and who has end-stage renal disease Medicare has two parts to the insurance the first part is Part A hospital insurance and the second part is Part B Medical insurance. The first piece: Part A Hospital Insurance covers critical access and inpatient hospitals, nursing facilities. Hospice care and some home health care are covered. The second piece: Part B Medical Insurance covers some medical services that Part A does not cover for instance occupational and physical therapists and some home healthcare. Part B pays for supplies and covered services when it is medical necessary. Medicaid is offered to low-income families and to families who fit the eligibility group that is accepted by the state and federal law. Each State has their own requirements, and they may include age, pregnant, disabled, blind, and income, bank accounts, real estate also if they are a citizen.
