Introduction STAT 4/6360 - 1 - Introduction to SAS and R in the Department of Statistics at UGA: The acronym SAS used to stand for “Statistical Analysis System”, but now it is just called SAS. This software is available for your use in Lab 307 where our class meets. There are also other locations on campus where SAS is available. You can buy a student’s version ($50) from https://www.msd.uga.edu/. R is a system for statistical computation and graphics. It consists of a language plus a run- time environment with graphics, a debugger, access to certain system functions, and the ability to run programs stored in script files. This software is also available for your use in Lab 307 where our class meets. You can also download R free. Go to the website to download R 2.12.0 for Windows : http://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/ 1) How to login to your computer in Lab 307? Any student who is not on the confirmation roll will not have access to computers in Lab 307. The computer accounts will be created soon.
