Calculators are allowed. One 8.5 11 sheet of notes is allowed. Language dictionaries are allowed. There are 10 pages to this exam and the total number of marks for the exam is 100. There is a bonus question at the end that is worth up to 10 extra points for a correct answer. It does not hurt your score to skip the bonus question. 1 Question 1: (20 points) Sidney Crosby, the future Hall of Fame hockey player, is not always as perfect as he seems. Sometimes, he just doesnt feel that good (tired, flu, too much partying at local Pittsburgh area nightclubs) and the probability of him getting at least one point is 0.10. If he feels good, the probability that he gets at least one point is 0.85. Luckily he rarely doesnt feel good, and the probability that he will not feel good in a particular game is 0.02. 1. If Sidney does not score a point, find the probability that he does not feel good. (10 points) In hockey, you can get points for both goals and assists. Lets say the event that Sidney Crosby gets a goal is event G and the event that he gets an assist is event A . 2. Do you think these events are independent? (5 points) 3. Disregard your answer to part (b), now assume that goals and assists are independent within a game, and that if he feels well the probability that he scores a goal is 0.60 and the probability that he gets an assist is 0.90.
