1Accounting 3110-911: External Financial Reporting I 2011 Summer Session 1 Professor: E-Mail: Nancy L. Snow, MSA, CPA Use WebCT e-mail account only Telephone: Virtual Office Hours: 419-530-2374 MTWR 8:00pm to 9:15pm 1 Course Overview: Accounting 3110 is the first of three external financial reporting classes designed to provide a comprehensive knowledge of the accounting principles and theory which relate to financial information reported to external users. This class concentrates on financial accounting for corporations and emphasizes the asset side of the balance sheet as well as financial statement preparation. Course Materials: REQUIRED 1. Spiceland, Sepe, and Nelson, Intermediate Accounting , 6 th edition, McGraw-Hill, 2011. 2. McGraw-Hill’s Connect Accounting for required textbook (purchased separately from the textbook). Please see the welcome power points posted to the introduction icon on our class WebCT homepage for further information. Course Prerequisites: There are two prerequisites for registration in Accounting 3110: 1. A grade of C (2.0) or better in Accounting 3100. 2. A higher education GPA of 2.50 or better. Withdrawals: You may withdraw from this class with a grade of W through Friday, June 10, 2011 by filing the necessary paperwork at the Registrar’s office located in Rocket Hall. 1 Academic Honesty: No form of academic dishonesty will be tolerated. If the unfortunate circumstance should arise, the full range of university/college policies will be applied. This could result in a letter to your permanent file, immediate dismissal from the course with a grade of “F”, or even stronger action. Please conduct yourself with integrity and honesty. E-mail Communication: Student e-mails to an instructor are expected to be written in a professional manner. Examples of an e-mail written in an unprofessional manner include addressing an instructor by his/her first name, an e-mail written in all lower case letters, and failing to use proper punctuation. 1
