Rodriguez,  1 Denise Rodriguez ENC1102 UO1-A Dr. Norman Brammer 17 June 2010 Exploring the Future of Journalism  Imagine September 11, without any news coverage; society would have been not  only oblivious, but in a more chaotic state of being not knowing what was occurring in  the world or maybe even for some people, in their own city. “The benefit [of journalism]  to society is supposed to be its function as a watchdog on both the public and private  sectors -- disciplining waste, fraud and abuse -- and as a source of information for the  public about important issues of public policy,” states Dr. Mark Cooper, Ph.D. With the  advancements of technology, change of interests, and changes in society, what does the  future   of   journalism   look   like?   The   significance   of   inquiring   about   the   future   of  journalism greatly affects not only those in the field, but also those that depend on the  media to get informed; this question concerns all those who benefit as well as those who  are at the disadvantage of the media. By utilizing the assumptions and thoughts of  credible professionals in the field, it is apparent that the future of journalism will be

Rodriguez,  2 affected by the advancements in technology, in addition to all other manipulating factors;  but nevertheless, the field will adapt to these changes and remain a strong professional  and respected career.  Members of society yearn for information about the world that they  are a part of and surrounds them, which fuses the career in staying a competitor and  essential in the workforce. Through the means of research and investigation I have been able to find credible  sources of professionals in the field in order to draw conclusions to my hypothesis of the  outlook for journalism.  Without the resources of journalism informing society on the events in their
