C. Baer, PCB 4674 Fall 2010 Class Presentation Guidelines 1. Research Presentation - The last three Discussion Section ("Lab") periods will be devoted to student oral presentations. The format will mimic oral presentations such as would be given at a scientific meeting. Topic - You are to research a topic and present your findings to the class. The topic will be of your choosing, but must (obviously) be in some way pertinent to biological evolution. You must submit a 3 sentence summary of your topic IN CLASS on Tuesday, Oct. 12 . Presentations are to be 12 minutes long, + 3 minutes for questions from the audience. You can think of it as an oral term paper, and in fact it is designed to take the place of a term paper. Abstract - Presentations must be accompanied by a 200 word (+/- 10%) abstract that succinctly and accurately describes your presentation. Abstracts are due electronically by 5 pm MONDAY, November 8 , and will be posted on the class web page prior to the first day of presentations. References - Together with the abstract, you must present a list of references you used in preparing the presentation. Of your references, at least five
