This week, let’s havea discussion on writing strategies. In your response, be sure to address the following:1.Is writing easy for you, or difficult? Why?2.What strategies are helpful for college-level writing assignments? How do you start yourassignments that require a lot of writing?3.When you write, what is the difference between writing a paper and writing a discussionpost? What is the difference between writing an initial discussion post and a response to oneof your classmates?Your Discussion should be at least 250 words in length, but not more than 750 words. Use APAcitations and references for the textbook and any other sources used. When you’re done, read, rate, and comment on at least three of your classmates’ posts. Yourresponses should be at least 100 words that advance the discussion of the topic.152 wordsPermalinkReplyRe: Week 2 DiscussionbyNas Omorotionmwan Ilekhuoba- Friday, 7 February 2020, 10:45 PMThe difference between writing a discussion post versus a paper is evident when I read theassignment details for each. The discussion posts are essential to open discussion passivelybetween my teacher and peers in the same group since we are learning from one another! Thediscussion forum allows a conversation to take place between myself and my peers in the same
group. Whereas a paper, although peer-reviewed, does not allow passive communication, but doesallow feedback. An initial discussion post is my thoughts and research about the assignment givenby the teacher. My reply to a classmate is the response to their ideas and analysis of the weeklyassignment.College writing is difficult for me because I still have trouble fully understanding the APA formattingstyle. I also think that I get “writer’s block” even when I am so motivated to write. I do like to writewhen I can. I think my grammar is a bit rusty since I have been out of school for so many years, and Ido not have much public communication with my work. Although I have a few concerns regardingcollege writing, I have learned quite a bit in Chapter 8 of our textbook about the subject.UoPeople requires that my work should be presented in APA formatting (UoPeople Catalog, 2019).To me, this takes some getting used to since I am not continually using APA formatting. I think it iscertainly a skillset because it can be studied, and it supports success in college studies in the longrun. There are a few resources that the University Of the People makes available to me as a studentso that I can brush up on these skills. The online student writing center is an optional course that Ican take to help me do just that and become more familiar with the subject. This course providesinformation on the writing process and APA formatting style, to name a few things (UoPeople, 2019).
