They plan on implementing a system that would reward top performing first-year teachers at almost double that-up to about $78,000 per year. The system is based upon student achievement, basically test scores. An interesting point I’ve found from the Washington proposal is that the money will come from private sources. I’d like to explore the history of merit pay, learn about the different types of merit pay, see if it has ever worked in the past, and see if such a system would work at my high school....
