Reflect Which of the models is more effective to use in teaching and learning of science? Needham Five Phase Model is more effective to use in teaching and learning of science. Phase I is “Orientation”. Teacher have to give a brief overview of what is to be learned to stimulate students’ interest. Phase II is “Eliciting Ideas”. Teacher asked questions to see students’ prior knowledge and whether there are misconceptions in the prior knowledge. Phase III is “Restructuring Ideas”. Teacher set activities to help students overcome their misconceptions. Phase IV is “Application”. Concepts that are learned are then to be applied to everyday living. Phase V is “Reflection”. Students reflect on what they have learned through journal writing.

Unformatted text preview: Think If the children in your class is going to learn about “Properties of light” in year 5, how would you go about conducting this lesson in line with the constructivist approach? First of all, I will give tell them the topic that we are going to learn. I will go through the objectives that have to achieve at the end on the lessons. Then, I will ask questions to see how far the students know about properties of light. Hands-on activities will carries out to help students overcome their misconceptions. To enhance their knowledge, some example of natural phenomenon is explained to them. At last, students have to recall back what had learnt in the lesson and do some exercises....
