Unformatted text preview: According to the Mayo Clinic, heart disease is the No. 1 worldwide killer of men and women, including in the United States. Heart disease is responsible for 40 percent of all deaths in the United States, more than all forms of cancer combined. Many forms of heart disease can be prevented or treated with healthy lifestyle choices and diet and exercise. Heart disease is a term that can describe many different conditions. All of these conditions have some effect on the heart or the blood vessels that supply the heart. The three types of heart disease my paper will cover is diabetes, stroke and coronary heart disease. Diabetes and exercise is a great combinaion to manage diabetes. Exercise will assist in helping control weight and blood sugar level. By burning excess body fat a person improves their insulin sensitivity. When exercising, the body needs extra energy for the muscles that are being used. With continued exercising muscles take up glucose at almost 20 times the normal rate and thus lowers blood...
