According to Rule Utilitarianism, we should follow a correct moral rule. A moral rule is correct if there would be more total happiness if people conform to it than if they don’t conform to it” ( Barcalow, 125 ) ❖ AU ( roughly ) : At any given time, you ought to do that which maximizes total happiness ❖ RU ( roughly ) : At any given time, you ought to do that which conforms to a rule that maximizes total happiness Rule- Utilitarianism 4 Rule- Utilitarianism nicely handles the practicality objection.
