Ok perhaps some of you still arent convinced why an incentive strategy tool doesnot work. All your life is concerned about incentives: grades in school, prices in sports competition so what is wrong about it. I myself at the beginning of my carrer had been getting chocolate bars from grand pa every time I got 5. But after few 5s I wanted more and 1 bar semmed to me not ok. So as soon as you withdraw your punishment or reward your motivation will disappear. Whats more there is even diminishing returns rule so once you get 1 chocolate bar you need to get more bars to be as motivated as you have been firstly....
