Unformatted text preview: music. I view it a self-expression completely my own, a frontier where I can truly be who I am and who I want to be instead of who society says I should be. Unfortunately, I come from a small town where music education is slowly being phased out of the learning curriculum. Long gone are the days of high school choirs and now even the elementary school music program is being threatened. At this time my old high school is also going through state review because its test scores are not “up to par”. To me, the loss of the music program is directly affecting these test scores and I believe that if the music program were to be reinstated, there would be an increase in the passing grades. It’s time for my school, and several around the country, to buck up and face the music....
