ENGL 1002 Sec. 103/9 Ms. Bobbitt Unit 3 Peer Review This peer review exercise provides the opportunity for you to both read and hear your paper read aloud. You will encounter your writing in a different way by hearing it as opposed to simply looking at the words on a page, and you may identify certain strengths and weaknesses that you would not have noticed otherwise. The review of each paper will occur in two rounds: 1. One person will read his/her paper aloud while the other sits and listens. If you are listening, pay attention to your initial reactions as a reader/listener . What effect do the stories and the overall text have on you? How persuasive is the message? Briefly share these with your partner 2. Now, the author will hand his/her paper to the reviewer, who will read it aloud (for the second time). This will give the author a chance to hear her own writing. If you are the reviewer, pay attention to the rhetorical situation, organization, development, and style as you read. Now repeat this process for the other person’s draft. Make notes to yourself, if necessary, as you listen. After you complete the second read-through, it’s time to comment more specifically.
