Beau Backhaus 7848 Woodland Lane West Bend, WI 53090 April 28, 2011 Wendy Mieske YMCA Camp Matawa N885 Youth Camp Road Campbellsport, WI 53010 Dear Wendy: Being employed through the YMCA Camp Matawa has been great both as a counselor and part of the maintenance crew. Since my employment, which will soon be three years, I have been noticing some flaws within the camp. Having the YMCA logo attached to the camp name you should be able to follow the image that the Y represents. This also goes for the employees you hire. At the start of the camp season, we counselors start off with high levels of energy. As the season drags on, however, our energy levels start to become depleted. I have experienced this myself and also saw this when I was working maintenance for a year. I have a unique perspective because I can see the situation from two different angles. The situation that I am addressing is that the camp counselors get sick of camp and get burned out mid-way through the season. As a result, the kids that pay money to get a good camp experience do not receive an experience to its full potential. By solving this problem, both parties will obtain what they want. I have noticed several reasons why the counselors get burned out so easily:
