Executive Summary The Food Terminal is about applying management and people skills to sort through a difficult management situation. The underlying issues are moral, leadership and service problems. Alternatives discussed include new pricing strategies, weekly meetings, managing part time staff, setting reasonable performance goals and changing the way in which change is managed. The final recommendation was to have Mike establish a clear cost control process, reducing staff, and setting up meetings with each department head to ask for input.

Problem Statement The main issue facing Mike B, a recent graduate who has been appointed a store manager at a Food Terminal is that the revenues are down, managers do not trust him, and employee morale is terrible. The change to a new manager has been handled terribly and now all aspects of store operations are being negatively affected.
