Instructions and Study guide for the final examination, History 8 1. Give 2 large format bluebooks to your teaching assistant before instruction ends. 2. Bring two pens to the exam. The exam will consist of three sections. 1. Fill-in-the-blank based on the list. 10 points. 2. One short-answer essay based on a prompt, possibly a photo or cartoon. 15 points. 3. One long essay. 75 points. Consider the following as you study for the exam: What are liberalism and neoliberalism and why are they important to understand Latin American history? What is a revolution? Be able to compare and contrast the revolutions and revolutionary struggles in particular countries (e.g., Mexico, Cuba, Chile, Bolivia, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Peru). Pay more attention to structural factors than personalities. What impact has the United States had on Latin America—international relations, economic interactions, overt and covert warfare, immigration, drugs, etc. Compare Latin America in the late 19
