2 Perspective Changing Abstract The viewpoints from a parent’s side and a sibling’s side welcoming a new baby can be views differently. With cultural backgrounds, personal beliefs and influence there are many ways this can be interpreted. A person’s mood, personality and the situation are all factors in how things are viewed. In this paper I have done some personal research on families with more than one child and the experiences they have had.

3 Perspective Changing There are many situations that can be viewed differently one situation is the birth of a child. This has many different viewpoints that are involved; it can be looked at from the parent’s side, the sibling’s side, the family members that do not live in the household and friends looking in. I have chosen to discuss the viewpoints from the parents and the sibling. Welcoming a new baby to the world should be a pleasant and wonderful thing, but perhaps not so much when there is a sibling who does not understand what is going on. From the parents point of view it is a wonderful new edition and things are going great, buying new baby stuff and getting the nursery painted, to them it all seems perfect and wonderful. I often see parents not taking the time to explain to the the existing child what is going on and why mommy and daddy are rearranging the house and buying new things. The existing child starts to get concerned because she is not sure what is going on, why there is so much new stuff coming to the house and what all of this is going to mean as far as getting attention. The sibling starts to feel left out and not getting enough
