1) Exam 1 Chapter 3 review a) Associative Networks i) The way we group related bits of information ii) As new information comes in, it is put into nodes as it relates to other information we already have acquired b) Behavioral Learning theories i) This theory states that we learn things by experiencing them (1) Classical conditioning (a) A stimulus is paired with another that elicits a response, so when the first stimulus is encountered, it elicits the same response c) Instrumental conditioning i) When we learn behaviors that produce favorable outcomes, and avoid those that produce negative ones (1) Shaping (a) The process of teaching the positive or negative outcomes (i) Positive and negative reinforcement 1.
