Graduate students’ understanding of the neededinformation and the different types of information sourcesaccessible are essential for them to search for the requiredinformation effectively and efficiently.Previous studiesconcluded that insufficient knowledge about informationseeking behaviour is one of the factors that contributed tofailure in searching for useful information. This paper discussabout a study conducted to evaluate a measurement model ofinformation seeking behaviour factors, which is a part of themethods used to develop Research Information SeekingBehaviour Model. The data was collected through surveymethod by using web-based questionnaire. The measurementmodel was validated using Structural Equation Modeling withAMOS 16.0. Eight factors were extracted from exploratoryfactor analysis and labeled as preliminary research needs, dataresearchneeds, printedinformationsources, electronicinformation sources, media information sources, libraryinformationsearch, electronicinformationsearchandinformation use. Results of the assessment of model fit showedthat all the relevant measurements fit a value that exceeds thevalue recommended by previous researchers. In conclusion, the measurement model provides a reasonably good fit andsuitable for the development of Research Information SeekingBehaviour Model.Keywords-informationseekingbehaviour,informationretrieval, graduate student, research, modelI.INTRODUCTIONThe growth of the Internet and World Wide Web (Web)enable information to be obtained from around the world atany time. Despite such advancement, research related toinformation retrieval showed that graduate students faceddifficultiesinlocatingandretrievingtherequiredinformation effectively in order to support their research. This is because, they are unaware of the facilities and varioussources of information available that can be utilized to findthe required information.Academic libraries are the first place that graduatestudents should visit when seeking for information. Theycontain a variety of information sources such as books, journals, theses, working papers, conference articles andresearch reports that can be used to support research. Inaddition to academic libraries, more information is availableelectronically on the Web. Although the Web is one of theoptions for getting the required information, graduatestudents often experience some difficulties when searching
