Emotion- A complex reaction consisting of a psychological change from the homeostatic state that if subjectively experienced as a feeling and manifested in bodily changes that prepare one to act. Emotions motivate us to act. Which get to the feeling leval. Psychologists noticed very intense physiological arousal tend to be associated with intense feelings. These feelings tend to be remembered. James/ Lange Theory propose that emotions are simply perceptions of our own responses to arousing stimuli. Ex. To support their theory they got subjects into their lab and injected the people with Lactic acid/ Norepinephrine (increases arousal) which manipulated their physiology which made them feel scared. They also say there is a certain recipe for each emotion. Walter Cannon and Bard Stimulus activates brain circuits that are concerned with emotion. Once activated the brain sends messages to the body to evoke the physiological response. They said that people knew the difference between a real emotion an an emotion caused by an injected
