Unformatted text preview: LPG tank LPG tank similar make and model to subject similar make and model to subject exemplar interior exemplar interior range range JRA 03-28 JRA 03-28 It has been alleged that the cause of the fire was a leak in a flare fitting and connector supplying LP gas to a cooking range. It is further alleged that the flare fitting and connector were defectively manufactured, and were installed in the travel trailer during original manufacture. The (double) flared, 3/8-inch outside diameter copper tube from this connection was reportedly removed from the accident site some time after the accident by cutting it about 6 inches back from the flare. No fitting was apparently attached to it at that time. The subject fitting was reportedly located within the range. Both components were preserved. Anderson & Associates Consulting Metallurgical Engineers JRA 03-28 JRA 03-28 We have had the opportunity to review the components at the laboratories of Anderson & Associates and to conduct non- destructive testing on them according to a protocol agreed to by the participants. Mr. Richard Keith, expert for the plaintiffs, brought the components to the laboratory and participated in the testing and analysis.
