Lauren Beauchamp Michael Beane John Allen Abdullah Alshamali Due: February 19, 2010 ENG 100- Tuesday and Thursday; 11:00-12:15 Our group discussion on ethical decisions in engineering was centered on the case entitled Employment of a Former Convicted Engineer. A brief summery of the case is as follows: John Smith and his assistant James Jones who is all registered engineer, were charged with establishing “dummy” agencies with the state to receive funds for the program. John and his assistant were convicted with fraud and embezzlement and sentenced to prison terms. Their engineering licenses also got revoked. While serving in prison John got qualified for work-release program, by this he will be able to work at day and he will return to jail at night. If the XYZ Engineering Firm are considering hire john as a technician, meaning John will not be in responsible charge of engineering or sign or seal engineering documents. As a group we were asked to answer the question: Is it ethical for the engineering
