Allison Morrow Nov. 2, 2009 101-3AA Paper # 3 Summary William Zinsser, the current executive editor of the Book–of–the-Mouth Club, is the author of the article ”College Pressures” , which was originally, published in the magazine Country Journal in 1979. “College Pressures” is a description on the reasons why college students feel extreme amounts of pressure during their years of undergraduate study. Zinsser points to four main points of pressure within the article: economic pressure, parental pressure, peer pressure, and self-induced pressure. According to Zinsser’s article, the students of today feel economically pressured because they think their choices of study are limited to areas where they feel they will have the most success, meaning more salary in order to pay off their college debt and to maintain economic stability in their future years of life. By limiting their choices to areas such as pre-med, pre-law, or pre-business, they become less well rounded and are not willing to take risks.
