Lessig argues that ours was a free culture, and that the imminent corruption of this free culture would hinder the progress of creativity and innovations. If the public continues to be unaware of the changing aspects of free culture, then the American publics tradition of free culture will be ultimately defeated. Keeping in mind Lessigs definition of free culture, readers are given actual examples by Lessig as he delineates this realm of free culture.
