Unformatted text preview: Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) HS230: Healthcare Administration By, Jamie Minnich Due by May 17, 2011 Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act or known as HIPAA is a privacy rule that provides federal protection for personal health information held by the hospitals and gives patients the rights with their health information. This statute is to help protect patients from having their private medical records from being put into the wrong hands. (CMS 2011) I t also states that medical personal are to the best of their ability help treat patients without violating their rights.
