Quadrat Method vs. Transect Method Question: What is the population density of weeds in Newtonbrook’s football field? Hypothesis: Considering the experimental data was taken very early in the spring, the quadrats will each have 40 plants, and the transect will have 160 plants. The quadrat method will yield the most accurate results, and the field would need pesticides. Quadrat Average Density: D=(29+20+17+19+32+44+5+25+5+8+6+12+43+30+148+149+89+235+223+45+17+13+6)/23/1 D= 53 weeds/m 2 Transect Average Density: D= (91+52+27+132+976+97)/6/(4x1) D= 57.3 weeds/m 2 Analysis: 1. Our group’s results yielded almost half of the class’s average densities for both the transect and quadrats. Even though our group’s results suggested a lower population
