In the year 2000 the world population was at a six point one billion marker and by the time the year 2007 rolled around it escalated to an astounding six point six billion. With an increase like this in only a span of seven years the world population is projected to reach a nine point three billion marker by the year 2050. This projection indicates a huge issue for the human race and the environment it inhabits. The human race is the sole reason for all of the major environmental problems that are destroying our world. Humans are the reason for issues regarding water resources, pollution in the atmosphere, decrease in terrestrial resources, and the issues regarding the conservation of energy sources. The best way to take care of any problem is to control the source and the source in this case is human population. Problem There are four major factors that play a role for the growing population and they would be the rate of births each year, the amount of death each year, the act of immigration, and the process of emigration. The birth rate and the cause of immigration both increase the population and the death rate as well as the act of emigration would decrease the population. This was stated by the global Growth Rate in the year 2008, “Every minute we are adding 140 more people to the world, over 200,000 more every day, over 70 million more every year.” These numbers seem to be shocking since the populations growth only causes more problems related to the supply of water, the production of food and energy, and the destruction of the environment. Contributing Factors Negative human impacts The most damaging factor cause by overpopulation would be food production. Humans are omnivore, which means they eat anything without thinking of consequence. With that said it is safe to say that this rampage of eating is fulfilled by animal based manufacturing and that is can help cause global warming, pollution of the air etc. The section of livestock creates large amounts of greenhouse gas released which is the equivalent to 18% of CO2 transport. If that isn’t bad enough just transporting the products throughout the townships

cause a significant increase in are pollution caused by all the gas fumes burned off and released into the air. Along side of that there are so many acres and acres of land that are plowed and destroyed for useless crops like tobacco which is not a necessity to humans it is a desire. These pieces of land could be homes for forests with all kinds of animals and such living in it that just go to waste for products that are not needed. Did you know that the waste left over from cigarette filters cause five hundred thousand tons of pollution each year? Another issue is the supply of water. The resource is so crucial to humans that
