LEADERSHIP IN THE DYNAMIC HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY 2 Health Care Leadership and Impact on Patient Experience Leadership in the health care system is one of the most important aspects when it comes to implementing any strategies. Those strategies should be a main concern with providing excellent quality of care for a patient experience in any health care facility or setting. Management or leadership are often assigned the role of setting goals and objects to create successful pathways for patient experience. The goals of the leadership team are what help define the organizational culture that affects staff engagement, and any trust between employees and those in leadership roles (Abudi, 2019). Leaders have one of the most important roles in creating the patient’s safety and satisfaction in their experience in the health care setting. Leaders also have a vital task of ensuring all values and cultures of the health care facility are adopted by their employees (Abudi, 2019). This helps to make a more efficient and appropriate experience for the patient. Patients experience are always a reflection of the organizational culture of the health care facility which is started and operated by senior leadership teams and down to their employees who work more directly with the patients. Leaders are the driving force or the part that helps to create change for the health care facility. Those in leadership roles must be trusted by all staff members, because they are ultimately responsible for any decisions that can lead to success or failure for the organization. Patient experience is critical in today’s medical field. People have no tolerance for just having good services. Patients want to feel empathy and compassion during their health care visits. Patients compare healthcare to other service industries. Health care is a very competitive field today, and patient experience is one of the most rated parts of the field. Experience impacts everything for a hospital from the number of patients to how much reimbursement it receives. Implications of Patient Experience
LEADERSHIP IN THE DYNAMIC HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY 3 Patient experience represents a critical component of any health care facility. Patient experience is what helps attract and retain patients. It is known that when patients form positive relationships on trust with their providers, they develop a sense of loyalty to that organization. Patient experience also affects the outcome of the patient. Outcomes affect how many patients come back to the health care facility which affects how much revenue the hospital is receiving (Abudi, 2019). If hospitals don’t put any emphasis on patient experience, there will be some implications.
