The Relationship Between Absorbance and Concentration The equation that established the relationship between absorbance and concentration is y = 0.1387x – 0.0817. The correlation coefficient (R 2 ) was 0.9987 which is fairly accurate. The slope of this equation (0.1387) was used to calculate the concentration (Concentration = absorbency/ slope). This reaction of crystal violet and sodium hydroxide also follows the BeerLambert Law that Absorbance = e / c. II.
