Means English 1102 21 February 2011 Plattner Essay 1: Isasi-Diaz Thesis: And the acceptance of that difference, which does not make us better or worse than other groups but simply different, has to be the starting point for understanding us. Model: Gap Reasoning: I believe that this thesis is the correct thesis and the main claim that Isasi- Diaz is trying to make. For one, she understands that there are a great number of American citizens who have a hard time accepting the fact that Hispanics are assimilating into the American culture. She expands on this statement as she adds examples such as their contributions to society, their political and geographical roles for America, and their influence on culture and languages throughout the whole essay. Americans have failed to realize the importance of what Hispanics have done for this country. Therefore, the thesis should be labeled as a Gap model. Essay 2: Ehrenreich
