Means English 1102 Plattner 23 January 2011 Editorial Summaries USAToday.com: There has always been a prodigious amount of concern for the safety of America’s important public figures. American history has always been blemished by assassinations of figures such as Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr. The issue becomes scarier as weapons are advanced as time keeps ticking, and there is little to no effort in procuring those resources. USA Today believes that the greatest issue right now is to prevent those attacks from happening. This is especially the case as there was an attempted assassination at Rep. Gabriele Giffords outside a supermarket in Tucson, Arizona. The assassin, Jared Lee Loughner, came up with political ramblings on his MySpace and blog accounts, but never really showed deep thought in political. This leads us to believe that Loughner has psychiatric problems. It is amazing how we see our public figures that are doing everything they can to make our nation a better place to live and thrive. However, Americans never comprehend the type of dangers that these men and women of the U.S Government face every day. Some type of action must be implemented to ensure the safety of public figures.
